The Boss Monster game is specific in that it says only 2-4 players can play the game, but from reading all the rules, and the fact that there are more than 4 monsters, I don't understand why it cannot go to five or six. I imagine it might be because there might not be enough resource cards to go around. I recently found my Boss Monster collection (Original, Next Level, Crash Landing, and Implements of Destruction), but all the cards are out of place! I've managed to accurately complete the two mini expansions, but my memory hasn't served me right on the two main games.
Okay so this will be a pretty big copypasta (below) from the most recent kickstarter email I got from them yesterday. Having played BM2 only once so far, nothing feels different or new from BM1. I'm actually pretty disappointed in a way, considering tools of a hero kind introduced new mechanisms that enhanced BM1 and made it refreshing. BM2 is only new cards.

In that sense it is an expansion but in no way is it a sequel. My friends and I playing this yesterday figured that out in a matter of minutes. It's basically BM1's dlc.here's the copypasta text from their email, sorry if the formatting is bad:Combining the SetsWhen you first play Boss Monster 2, we recommend trying it on its own to experience maximum newness and enjoy the re-balanced game design. (Be sure to note the new rules for game setup!) Once you're ready to combine it with the original Boss Monster, here's how to do it:.
Set aside the Hero cards from the original Boss Monster. Shuffle together the original and Next Level Room decks. Shuffle together the original and Next Level Spell decks.
Shuffle together the original and Next Level Boss cards. You can also be more selective and customize your Boss Monster experience, as long as you keep the following in mind:. Include 2 Advanced Rooms for every 5-6 ordinary Rooms.
Include equal numbers of the four treasure types. (Don't forget to include Hybrid Rooms in this calculation.).
Include roughly equal numbers of Trap and Monster Rooms (recommended but not critical). For Bosses, include roughly equal numbers of each starting treasure type (recommended but not critical). Include 24 ordinary Heroes (plus the Fool, if desired) and 16 Epic Heroes (plus The Brothers, if desired).
Maintain an equal balance of treasure icons and damage values. Remove Heroes as appropriate for 2- or 3-player games.
